Company One are an ensemble of actors working together to create work from home and on tour. We produce a range of classical theatre productions for audiences across the UK and Ireland, and are committed to supporting access to, and engagement in, the arts for people in the North of England. We want to work with people who we believe have genuine talent and give them the training and performance opportunities they deserve to get themselves noticed. Recruitment takes place regularly:

Hello!
It's been quite a year so far at PurpleCoat. We're proud and excited to share with you some of our fantastic new developments as we welcome in Year 8. We returned to the wonderful Smock Alley twice this summer with a celebration of our work by Harold Pinter. The Theatre of Menace showcased six of Pinter's shorter works and played to packed houses and rave reviews. In July we took King Lear to Ireland and Manchester as part of the GM Fringe where we enjoyed a completely sold-out run in all venues. Our filmed version of the play, which we recorded in Liverpool, will be released in 2017.

It was such a successful summer for our Youth Theatre that we are celebrating them completely this winter. The Jew of Malta was such a success that we will now look at the play it inspired, Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. Our inaugural Shakespearean Summer School was a huge achievement and has prompted our biggest news to date: from October we will be launching the PurpleCoat Theatre School with termly classes across the Wirral. And to celebrate Christmas with our usual flare, we will also be reviving our 2013 sell-out production of Breezeblock Park. As always, we couldn't continue any of what we do without the wonderful support of our audiences,

Thank you

Karl Falconer
Artistic Director

We welcome in our 8th Year with some of our biggest projects to date.
